Drake Wont Be The Only Canadian Rapper Performing At This Years BET Awards

After being shunned by the Black Entertainment Television (BET) network in 2013, Ottawa based rapper Corey Charron has been confirmed to appear on this years BET Hip Hop Awards on October 14, 2014.
In March of 2013, Charron was crowned the winner of BET’s “Freestyle Friday” show (becoming the 1st Canadian to win in the shows 10 year history) defeating several opponents over an 8 week span with the Grand Prize being an appearance on the BET Awards and $5000. BET never came through with the appearance for Charron which caused a controversy & helped Charron garner national press being featured on CBC National News, Globe & Mail, Ottawa Citizen, XXL Magazine & more.
Although it comes a year late, BET has delivered on their Grand Prize and Charron will be featured in this years BET Cypher performing alongside Hip-Hop’s biggest stars including Wiz Khalifa, Juicy J, Snow Tha Product and more. The awards will air on October 14.

Charron has announced a release date for his debut album entitled “Lied To My Face” of Sept 30, 2014. “Lied To My Face” features guest appearances from the likes of Crooked I of Slaughterhouse, Madchild, Snak The Ripper, Merkules & more.

Charron has also confirmed he now has a monthly feature on TSN’s “Off The Record” TV show where he will film a monthly segment for the nationally televised show recapping the month’s top sports stories in a taped “freestyle” verse. Charron says, “I’d like to apologise to Ray Rice in advance of my first segment I’m taping for TSN.”
