CBC’s ‘The Top 25 Canadian Rapper’s Ever’

CBC released their ’25 Top Canadian Rappers Ever’ list. CBC claim they asked ‘industry people from across the country, including journalists (whether or not they’ve written for CBC Music)’. With no Vancouver or Montreal artists in the Top 10, it’s pretty obvious the ‘Industry People’ CBC consulted with were located in Toronto. Red1 coming in at #19? Blasphemy. Being a member of the biggest selling Canadian hip-hop group ever and staying relevant on the charts for over 15 years wasn’t enough for Madchild to make it. At least they didn’t do Vancouver as dirty as they did Montreal.

Check out the list below:

  • 25)Joey Stylez
  • 24)Ghettosocks
  • 23)Eternia
  • 22)JD Era

When we asked CBC about it on twitter they replied with:

We at HHV love both K-os and Shad, but to get the facts straight, K-os is from Toronto (‘We hail from T-Drizzy’ – Joni Mitchell and Peelin’ Out). Shad has been living in Vancouver for the last few years and we will happily claim him as our own, but in the article CBC has him listed as being from London, ON.
