Party-people were lined up outside Venue earlier than usual in anticipation of Florida rapper Ace Hood. Vancouver’s own Fizal Stars kicked off his high energy set with a freestyle over ‘Dem Racks’ followed by his track ‘Taxing’. He brought out “Joonbug” a blockstar affiliate from Washington to perform his track ‘Roll Weed Time’.
Next up was Heatwave who was joined by BC Lion Jerome Dennis for their track ‘Lowkey’. Dkay hit the stage to join Heatwave next as the two performed their track Django. To finish off his set, Heatwave brought out Tony Mason for their collaboration on ‘Dinero’ .
Stevie Ross got the crowd hyped for Lazeevil’s entrance. Lazeevil joined Ace Hood on the Western Leg of his Canadian Tour and is fresh off the release of ‘Kiiing of the Jungle’. Once he hit the stage he put on a solid show for 25 minutes, playing numerous tracks from the album.
Representing gear from DIPT, Ace opened up with his Trials & Tribulations Bugatti and Vancity gave him a really warm welcome. He kept the stage on fire and the audience didn’t stop dancing until the last song was over.
During his show he sent a picture to instagram with the caption – “Vancouver ******* Incredible!!#Bless #Wethebest #TNT”. Given this was an early show, the whole night was wrapped up by 10 p.m. He let his fans know that the after-party was at SHINE, and asked them to come out and celebrate with him. His album Trials and Tribulations is set to be released July 16th 2013.
It was a great turnout for an early show and a good preview for the upcoming string of dope hip-hop shows that Blueprint at Venue this month.
