Thursday September 12, 2013 – The 2 High To Die Tour, travelling all around North America featuring Action Bronson and Danny Brown, was about to start in Calgary, Alberta. All that came to an halt when Danny Brown was denied entry into Canada the second time (the firt being his tour last year with A$AP Rocky). “I’m not trying again…It’s a wrap on Canada bruh bruh” is what Danny Brown tweeted in relation to that incident. Despite that incident, that tour went on, with Action Bronson touring solo throughout the first Canadian leg of the tour (East Coast still may have a chance, since Danny’s people are working at it). When the tour reached Vancouver, the show downsized to a more intimate venue. the Red Room, to accommodate all of Action Bronson’s fan; an amazing venue for any Action Bronson fan to see Bam Bam up close and personal.
Despite the last minute venue change, it was about to fill up. DJ Sailor Jerry warmed up the crowd whilst Action Bronson videos were playing on the big screen. Soon, the smoke cleared and the lights dimmed and Action Bronson appeared on stage. Sporting his signature beard and a brown costume that resmbled more like Bam Bam from the Flintstones vs Bam Bam Bigelo, Action started things off with ‘Contemporary Man’.
The dancefloor was filled to the brim as Action went quickly went through his discography, with songs such as ‘No Time’, ‘Alligator’ and ‘Strictly For My Jeeps’, only to stop once, to mention he was from Queens. His laidback approach to rapping is reminiscent of the 90’s so there was no doubt that Action Bronson style was akin to Ghostface Killah’s. Bam Bam went through every song with such flow and composition, the crowd was hanging on to every word.
“Action! Bronson!” the crowd chanted when Bam Bam walked off stage, about 30 seconds later, he appeared on stage to the tune of ‘Tequila‘. He told everyone it was a new song that was done to the tune of ‘Tequila’. Action walked off stage mysteriously after the song ended, with many people chanting for him again. As soon a five minutes past, the crowd started to disperse, when all of a sudden, a cloud of smoke appears on the dance floor. Action Bronson comes back, to hang out with the crowd and take pictures with his fans. People start rushing back to get a piece of Bronson, as he hung out with fans for nearly fifteen minutes before leaving to go on to the next door date. Although one half of the tour was not there, Action Bronson’s performance was more than enough to make up for it.
